Looking for an easy dinner idea this week? Bring on the Tatertot casserole!
Some of you mock the casserole, but when it’s easy, delicious and the whole family loves it, you can’t deny that! With its creamy, meaty and veggie layers topped with crispy golden tatertots and gooey melted cheese on top, you gotta embrace a classic. I don’t know if it’s the creamy filling or crispy golden potatoes (probably both) but this casserole is a simple classic in my book and my family loves it. Your family will too!
This recipe is not only delicious but so easy. It has every quality of comfort food and is sure to turn into a family favorite. You might even have all the ingredients in your kitchen right now. The recipe is below.
You will start by making the “filling.”
After the filling is mixed together and spread in the pan you’ll top it with those soon-to-be golden nuggets of potato-y goodness.
After the tots you’ll add the cheese on top. That’s it! Are you ready to make this tasty tatertot casserole for your family? I bet they’ll love it. Check out the full recipe below.
Easy weeknight meal of classic meat and potatoes!
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 2 cans green beans drained
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 package frozen tatertots
- 2 cups cheddar cheese grated
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
Preheat oven to 350.
Brown the ground beef. Set aside to cool on plate lined with a paper towel to absorb excess grease.
In a large glass bowl add the soup mix, milk, salt and pepper and mix to combine. Add in the green beans and browned ground beef and stir it in the soup mixture until all covered.
Move mixture to a 9x13 glass casserole dish and cover the mixture with the frozen tatertots. Use as many as you’d like to fill it in.
Top with the grated cheese.
Bake for 30 minutes. Serve warm.

I love that the filling acts as a sort of “gravy” for the tatertots. If you haven’t tried this recipe, it’s a must for easy weeknight dinners.
What’s your family’s favorite comfort food?
If you’re feeling adventurous, you should try making tatertots from scratch. We made them this Summer with fresh zucchini and squash from the garden zucchini and squash tatertots, they were delicious!
