Here’s a simple idea that’s too cute not to share: pineapple fruit cup chicks for Easter.
Sometimes it seems like most cute food for kids is usually loaded with sugar, so when I find something that’s not, I’m all over it. These little snack cups would be so fun for a Spring or Easter party. I’ve searched high and low for the original source for this fun idea with no luck. This is not my original idea, but I had to share the cuteness with you.
All you need for this cute snack:
– single serving pineapple fruit cups
– a black sharpie
– an orange sharpie
You might also need:
– clear plastic snack baggies
– a sharp pair of scissors
When I first opened up these little Dole brand snack cups from their packaging, I was disappointed to find the expiration dates printed right on top of the clear plastic, making the little chick, not as cute. You might find a different brand of fruit snack cups without the expiration date right on top like this, but if not, here’s what you can do. If you’re packing these up for your child’s lunch to take to school, then I say just add the cute chick right onto the expiration date and it’s the thought that counts.
OR if you’d like to use this idea for a party you could try this: Flip the snack cups upside down and trace around the plastic top onto a clear snack baggie. Then just cut out a piece of plastic from the snack baggie and draw the chick on this new piece of plastic. Take the plastic tops (with the expiration dates) off of the snack cups and replace with the new plastic over the top. This might actually be a good idea for little ones that need mom’s help to open up these snack cups, anyway. Now you’ve done the work for them.
…So you have some options. Either way, they’re pretty cute.
Fun for Easter, fun for Spring…fun for Everything.
When it comes to healthy snacks, what’s a favorite at your house? Would your little ones go for these?

Great idea! nice share 🙂
Oh gosh these are super cute!
You can also take the date stamps off with a teeny bit of nailpolish remover 🙂
good tip! Thanks for sharing!
Alcohol wipes worked great for me!
Cute idea, but ummm, arms and legs? What kind of chicks are these?
haha! funny looking chicks. 🙂
a Qtip and a drop of hand sanitizer will take the date right off…just rinse when done to remove and to ensure that the Sharpie will write on it.
ADORBS! Pinned it :)… have a great week!
Thank you! 🙂
These are so cute, I’m sharing them on fb today!
The “Easter Bunny” decorated fruit cups in my kid’s Easter baskets using this idea. I told my kids I’m going to copy the idea. 😉
I hadn’t read the post, just saw a picture of it on Pinterest. To avoid the expiration date I flipped the fruit cup over and drew on the bottom. It still looked cute.
You can use this idea all year drawing pictures on the fruit cups, writing messages, or jokes. I used to stick a post-it in their lunch, but I think I’ll start writing on the packaging, a funny face on the sandwich bag, etc.
So stinkin cute. I linked you up with my post tomorrow called Easter treat ideas. Thanks for letting me share.
These are as cute as anything. I laughed when I saw that you called them chickie birds. My mother used to say that to me and my brother when we were little and also my children. My mother was from Scotland. Takes me back.
You can erase the expiration dates on by coloring over it with a dry erase marker and then erasing it. Sometimes you have to do it more than once to get it off, but it works!!
These are such a cute idea! I would love to use them in an Easter Treats Roundup post!
