When it comes to burgers, the flavor combinations are endless!
My sweet friend shared this recipe with me, and it’s a home run. The mango and the mint along with the glaze on top of these grilled mango mint turkey burgers will make your mouth so happy. Do you do burgers a lot in the summer? I love using ground turkey for burgers when I can, and they work great with this recipe. Here’s a peek at the ingredients before you make the patties.
Ingredients Needed To Make Burgers:
- 1 1/4 pounds of ground turkey
- 1/2 of a large ripe mango chopped into small pieces
- mint, diced in small pieces
- 1/2 of a small onion, diced
- 1 tablespoon of BBQ or steak seasoning
- 1 tablespoon of Mrs. Dash original seasoning
Ingredients For The Glaze:
For the glaze just eye ball it and use equal measurements.
- BBQ sauce , whatever your favorite kind is.
- Teriyaki sauce, we love Yoshida.
How To Make Mango Mint Turkey Burgers:
- Mix all burger ingredients together and form the patties. A 1.25 lb package of ground turkey can make 5 large burgers. Depending on how lean the meat is, these will usually not shrink too much. I made the patties by hand because sometimes the meat is a little too wet to use a burger press, but they grill and flip fine.
- Mix both sauces together and paint the mixture over the burgers as they’re grilled. Grill one side, flip and add glaze, and when they’re ready, flip and glaze the other side.
Once you have the patties all ready to go, you’re ready to grill.
These taste great on their own on a bun, but you can add tomatoes, avocado, grilled pineapple… Whatever you think might taste great with these yummy and healthy burgers. You can also try them without the bun and just wrap in lettuce!
How To Season A Basic Turkey Burger:
If you are new to eating turkey burgers or you just want a simple burger to start you can use an egg, some garlic, Worcestershire sauce, parcley and some salt and pepper to taste and you will have delicious turkey burger.
Recipe FAQ:
How long does it take to cook turkey burgers? Whether you are grilling your turkey burgers or cooking them on the stove top in a pan it will take them 4-5 minutes to cook on either side. Remember not to flip them over too many times as this will prevent a nice flavorful crust to form on the patties.
Can turkey burgers be cooked in the oven? Yes, turkey burgers can be cooked in the oven. If you prefer to cook your burgers in the oven pre-heat your oven to 425 degrees and while your oven is pre-heating also place a greased pan in there before placing your patties, this will give your patties a nice sear. Cook your turkey patties 10-12 minutes on both sides.
Can turkey burgers remain pink? Seeing pink; do not worry. Turkey meat is not like beef. It is naturally lighter in color and it is normal that even after it has been fully cooked a pink color may still be present. They are still safe to eat.
When are turkey burgers done? If you have a meat thermometer, when the temperature reaches 165 degrees then your burger is done. If you do not have a turkey burger, just make sure you are cooking both sides for up to 5 minutes and when you see the juices run clear then you know your burger is done.
