Easy Graduation Party Favors to celebrate your graduate.
DIY Graduation Party Favors
We are just a few weeks away from the end of the year and a little graduation celebrating is in order. No matter what year of school was completed, there is always a reason to celebrate.
What you need to make these graduation party favors
To make these DIY graduation cap gum ball favors, here’s what you will need:
– black 1 inch gum balls
– 1″ x 7″ clear plastic tubes (these hold 7 gumballs)
– 2″ x 2″ black cardstock squares
– 4″ x 1/2″ black cardstock strips
– yellow embroidery thread
– low temp hot glue gun
– scissors
– hole punch
How to make Gumball Tubes for a party
To make the tassel, start by using one of your 2″ x 2″ pieces of cardstock and wrapping the yellow embroidery thread around it about 15 times. Next, snip one whole side of the thread off the cardstock. Third, create a small loop with all your thread and wrap a new piece of thread around it all about 10 times. Glue in place. Last, tie a longer piece of thread to the top of a single loop. (This will attach to the graduation cap). Snip the ends of the tassel to make them nice and neat!
To make the graduation cap, punch a hole on the center of a 2″ x 2″ piece of cardstock. Make a circle with one of the strips and glue the ends, making sure it’s large enough to fit around your clear tube. Attach the circle to the cardstock square with a thin line of glue. Now feed your the long piece of thread from your tassel through the punched hole and secure with a dot of glue.
And that’s it! Fill your tubes with gumballs and set your graduation caps on top for a fun graduation gift or party favor.

hi, i can’t find the right embroidery thread size. they’re usually too thin, and the yarns i’ve seen were too thick. where did you buy yours? thank you!
Kami says
It’s just basic embroidery thread. You can try separating the strands if you feel it looks too thick.
