We are just a few weeks away from the end of the year and a little graduation celebrating is in order. No matter what year of school was completed, there’s always a reason to celebrate. I invited my Instagram friend Tiffany from @paperandpleats to share this darling DIY graduation party favor idea with you today. Welcome Tiffany!
Hi! I’m Tiffany from paperandpleats.etsy.com. Kami invited me to share about a recent DIY I made on my instagram account (@paperandpleats) and I couldn’t be more excited to share this with you!
To make these DIY graduation cap gum ball favors, here’s what you’ll need:
– black 1 inch gum balls
– 1″ x 7″ clear plastic tubes (these hold 7 gumballs)
– 2″ x 2″ black cardstock squares
– 4″ x 1/2″ black cardstock strips
– yellow embroidery thread
– low temp hot glue gun
– hole punch
To make the tassel, start by using one of your 2″ x 2″ pieces of cardstock and wrapping the yellow embroidery thread around it about 15 times. Next, snip one whole side of the thread off the cardstock. Third, create a small loop with all your thread and wrap a new piece of thread around it all about 10 times. Glue in place. Last, tie a longer piece of thread to the top of a single loop. (This will attach to the graduation cap). Snip the ends of the tassel to make them nice and neat!
To make the graduation cap, punch a hole on the center of a 2″ x 2″ piece of cardstock. Make a circle with one of the strips and glue the ends, making sure it’s large enough to fit around your clear tube. Attach the circle to the cardstock square with a thin line of glue. Now feed your the long piece of thread from your tassel through the punched hole and secure with a dot of glue.
And that’s it! Fill your tubes with gumballs and set your graduation caps on top for a fun graduation gift or party favor. Thank you so much for having me, Kami! xo
