Salad Bar

I love a good salad bar, especially one with all my favorites:

hard boiled eggs
chick peas
pickled beets
aparagus or peas
ham
cucumbers

I recently brought this to a little at home lunch with friends. We laughed about pickled beets. Two of us love them, while the other two despise them. It was pretty funny.

I’d love to know, what are your TOP 5 salad bar toppings? …and does it include pickled beets? wink

I'm totally going to copy this and make a salad bar for dinner for my family soon… they will love it and think that it is so cool. I'll probably get some cool points too.

My top 5 salad bar ingredients:
    1. craisins
    2. cucumbers
    3. cauliflower
    4. pine nuts
    5. freshly grated yummy cheese

Who am I kidding??? Cauliflower as a top five? Beating out a fantastic crouton? Ha!

But… nowhere on my salad, or on my homemade salad bar, will you find pickled beets. *insert shudder*

Mine definitely includes pickled beets too. Love them!

    I would also add:
    1. broccoli/cauliflower/brocoflower
    2. grated cheese/feta/blue cheese
    3. sunflower seeds, sliced almonds, etc.
    4. tomatoes/strawberries/mandarin oranges
    5. crutons

(I would have a bunch more too.) I love yours! It looks sooo yummy!

    1. shredded carrots (I LOOOOVE how they end up at the bottom of the bowl with the leftover dressing)
    2. craisins
    3. bleu cheese
    4. white navy beans (so creamy!)
    5. capers

Does lettuce count as a favorite? :)

I mix my salads up quite a bit, and when I don't, my old standby is lettuce, shredded carrots, craisins, and capers. And I do love the beets, but never think to buy them. I don't think I trust my kids with that color!

I ordered a salad from the lunchroom and I was eating it in the library, when some girls went by and said, "That salad looks so delicious!" I felt sorry for them that they got lunchables.
    Very pretty salad tray!
How about sprouts or as Megan would say, "hair".
(This sandwich as too much hair on it.)

I love Sunflower seeds and lot's of beets. It is funny how when you put beets on your salad your whole salad is pink.

It's funny, because my hub and I have had this conversation before – beets are the topping for me that can make or break a salad bar! They top my list (and my salad).

    The remaining top 4:
    hard boiled egg
    soy beans (edamame)
    cucumbers
    broccoli

And as a bonus, if you've ever tried Ruby Tuesday's fresh-made croutons, they are to DIE for. Crispy but soft. I'm sure they defeat the purpose of getting a salad in the first place, but worth it!

I'm a fruit and nut kind of girl and I'm all about different kinds of textures in a salad.

    -Nuts (almonds, sunflower, peanuts, anything!)
    -Fruit (oranges, pineapple, strawberries, etc.)
    -Cheese (grated and cottage)
    -Pickled beets!
-Cucumbers.. and olives… and peas…I could go on and on!
