Easy Homemade Granola

Easy salty sweet chunky granola.

Ingredients
  • 4 cups old fashioned oats
  • 4 cups Wheaties cereal
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • 1/2 cup coconut flakes
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans *optional
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 300 F.
  2. On a sheet pan mix together the oats, Wheaties, sliced almonds and coconut.
  3. Sprinkle the salt, brown sugar and cinnamon over the top of the oat mixture.
  4. In a small saucepan heat the oil, honey and vanilla until the honey melts and is easy to stir.

  5. Pour the oil honey mixture all over the oat mixture and stir with a rubber spatula well to coat.
  6. Gently spread the mixture out evenly on the pan.

  7. Bake for 40 minutes.
  8. Every 10 minutes take the pan out of the oven and gently stir it around to ensure all pieces are coated with the oil/honey and so that it all toast evenly.

  9. Remove from the oven after 40 minutes of baking and let it cool on the pan.

  10. When cooled to room temperature break into smaller pieces.

  11. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 month.
