Waxed Paper Spider Webs
We had a simple party here on Friday for our daughter and a few of her friends, and I’m excited to share a few pics tomorrow.
I had a few last minute party and treat ideas that I thought would be fun for those of you still working on last minute things for class parties and Halloween parties this week.
This first idea: Waxed paper spider webs. These are so simple to make. They make a festive doily (if you will), on any dark plate that you are serving treats on.
To make a waxed paper spider web, you will need:
-plastic cutting board
First start by tearing off about a square size of waxed paper. Fold it in half. Fold it in half again in the opposite direction. Fold it in half diagonally, and in half again diagonally, kind of like you are making paper snowflakes. Then make a cut at the wide end like an inward half circle (not a straight line). Then take your wooden skewer and make spider web lines between the straight lines. Pressing hard as you go. Go over the lines back and forth to make it show.
That’s it! Super simple yet festive and fun. And yes…those are totally Hostess cupcakes. They don’t come much cuter than that squiggle white line.
One more quick idea for the classic ghost suckers. Next time you go to make these old fashioned Halloween treats, try making them with coffee filters! Coffee filters are perfect for this! They are more durable to write on with a sharpie and they hold up better than a plain white tissue. I recently shared this idea on Instagram. I always seem to share the fun little quick tips over there.
That’s it for today. Enjoy this fun time of year!
