My parents recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary, and I knew I wanted to do something special for them. When I saw this fun idea via Martha Stewart, I knew it would be perfect for their 40th Wedding Anniversary.
I thought I would share the step by step here, in case you might want to make one too. I found a few things to be helpful.
Supplies:
– black and white 4×6 photos (both vertical and horizontal): to make the number 40. I ended up printing WAY more than I needed. You might want to try and figure out how many pictures you think you’ll need before you spend the time (& money) printing and scanning.
– clear packaging tape to adhere the pictures to the cardboard or the wall
Optional:
– one big cardboard box: this is optional, but it was helpful to find a good shape for the numbers, you could also use craft paper to get the desired shape…OR just tape the photos directly to the wall.
– serrated edge knife for cutting the cardboard box
– 3M hooks for hanging the big numbers on the chalkboard – I love these things!
– one BIG 4ft. by 8ft. chalkboard
Here’s the How-To in pictures:
This was a such fun project…yet big project, but 40 years together is a BIG Deal, and I wanted to do something big to celebrate.
Thanks Mom & Dad for being the wonderful examples you are to all of us. We love you so much!
ps. This is part 1 of 2 posts. More of the 40th Anniversary dessert table here.
What a great idea and a beautiful way to honor your parents. 40 years is surely something to be celebrated! Congratulations to them and I LOVE this board!!
Wow – what a neat project! The final product turned out amazing. I bet they were floored to see their relationship displayed in such a creative way.
I LOVE this idea! I will keep this in mind for a birthday party.
I loved that image via Martha! We are planning to do it for my Dad’s 60th!
This is so cute! I love it. I want to do that for my parent’s. Good job Kami!
My sister was just telling me about this idea! We’re going to use it for my parent’s 30th next month!
I’ll be sure to bookmark this!!
That is the COOLEST idea I have ever seen!!! LOVE IT Kami. I bet your parents were so touched you took the time to make that for them. And how cool to see all those pictures of your life together. This would be fun for anybody at any occasion!
This is the nicest gift! So creative and what memories it will evoke! They will love it! So beautiful!!!
this is seriously amazing. 2 questions- where in the heck did you get that chalk board and how did you do those cool black and whites like that.
you did it again Cami. You are one amazing girl.
That looks REALLY fantastic! Wouldn’t have thought to assemble on cardboard, but I bet that helps with the neatness of it all. I love any craft including pictures;)
This is such a great idea! I love that it’s on cardboard so that they can take it and keep it and put it up somewhere and then the chalkboard not only looks GORGEOUS (because you did the black and white photos with the white border – my fave way to print pictures!), but it gets your guests involved and makes such an awesome, personalized souvenir of the event and loved ones there! I love party decor that looks great and that you can save and becomes art later! : )
