Christmas Tradition: Wrap Christmas Books for kids
One of my favorite things to pull out of hibernation, along with all the other Christmas decorations, is our growing collection of Christmas books – which are mostly for little kids, and big kids …like me.
This is our first year of wrapping each one individually to be opened each night leading up to Christmas…one more fun advent idea. I love the element of surprise added by wrapping each one, even though these are books that we already know and love. Do you do this too?
What’s your most favorite Christmas book for kids? I’d love any of your suggestions.

I grew up with one called "The Sweet Smells of Christmas" (it's wrapped so I don't know who wrote it) but it is a scratch and sniff book that has all the yummy smells of Christmas and smells bring back memories and tradition. Last year I found this book at Borders and bought it for my whole family because we all loved that book growing up. I think it is a must have!!

My family wrapped all our Christmas books one year just like what you're doing and it was really fun! It got us to read together daily and made the season that much more special. Loved your book suggestions! Thanks, Kami! xoxo

I love the idea of wrapping them!

I don't think anything can beat reading of "The Grinch Stole Christmas." Not the television version or the movie. Those are some great books.

Wrapping Christmas books is a great idea! One year my mom put together and spiral bound a collection of stories, poems, etc. that had one thing to read every day before Christmas. We still love it!
Just like you we have the Fisher-Price book and I Believe in Santa Claus as well–love those! I haven't had a chance to check your list but The Tale of the Three Trees is awesome as are A Christmas Dress for Ellen, Queen of Christmas (so fun!), The Littlest Angel, The Crippled Lamb, and my latest favorite, The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey.
A great idea we do with friends is buy each other a new Christmas book each year rather than coming up with a family gift or gifts for each other's kids. It's a simple gift and a great one!

What a cute idea to wrap up the books. We love Are You Grumpy Santa too. It is a favorite at our home.

I love that idea! I'm totally going to do that when I have kids. I really want my children to love reading as much as I did when I was growing up. NOTHING beats a good book coupled with a good imagination. You can't get that from television or movies!

What a fun idea to wrap them all! My favorites are 'I Believe in Santa Claus' which you already have and another one you want to order – 'Why Christmas Trees Aren't Perfect'. Get that one first…it's the best Christmas story!

We do this as our Christmas advent. I love that you posted the books you use. Great idea!

i'm so loving the new header!
i'm also so very glad that i made the christmas book list! it's a topic very near and dear to my heart–
i've never heard about wrapping before. what a great idea–now if somebody would come down and wrap all 50ish christmas books (yes. it's a sickness) then i'll be all set.

We do this too, except I no longer wrap them. Thanks for the list, I was just thinking I may need a few new cute books.

Another one that we like is The Night Before The Night Before Christmas. It's cute – Mom is sick with the flu so the family has to do everything. Then there's also other holidays like The Night Before Halloween, and The Night Before Thanksgiving & a few others.
