Homemade Sausage Apple Stuffing

A classic homemade savory and sweet stuffing that's so easy and full of flavor.

Ingredients
  • 6 cups cubed french bread ( left out to dry for 2 days)
  • 1 lb pork breakfast sausage
  • 1 yellow onion diced
  • 1/2 cup celery diced
  • 2 Fuji or Granny Smith apples chopped
  • 2 tsp dried sage
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley minced
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups chicken stock
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter melted
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

  2. In a skillet cook the breakfast sausage until browned then move to a paper towel lined plate to drain.

  3. To the pan add the onion, celery and apples and cook for a few minutes, until the onion is translucent.

  4. In a large bowl add all the bread, cooked sausage, onion, celery, apples, sage, thyme and parsley.

  5. In a large bowl add the chicken broth, egg and butter and whisk together.

  6. Pour this mixture over the bread and sausage mixture. Toss it all together.

  7. Put into greased 9x13 pan, press down slightly and bake for 35-40 minutes or until it looks crispy on top
