Sheet Pan French Dip Sandwiches

Our go-to easy weeknight meal to feed the family.

Ingredients
FRENCH DIP SANDWICH:
  • 1 pound roast beef (good quality from the deli)
  • provolone or Swiss cheese (10-15 slices)
  • 1 stick butter softened
  • bakery rolls
OPTIONAL:
  • mushrooms and onions sauteed
  • sliced avocado sliced
FOR THE AU JUS:
  • 1 tablespoon Better than Bouillon beef flavor
  • 3 cups water
Instructions
For the French Dip Sandwich:
  1. Line a sheet pan with aluminum foil for easy clean up. Turn on the oven set to broil.

  2. Slice 6 bakery rolls in half, and place them cut side open onto the sheet pan. Spread the softened butter onto both sides of the bakery rolls.

  3. Add one slice of roast beef to each side of each bakery roll. Add one slice of provolone to each roll. 

  4. Turn the oven to broil and place the sheet pan under the broiler. Watch the cheese melt and remove from the oven when the cheese starts to melt and bubble.

For the Au Jus:
  1. Add 1 tablespoon of beef flavor Better than Bouillon to a medium sized sauce pan.  

  2. Add 3 cups of water and warm over medium high heat. 
  3. Whisk the two together until combined.

  4. Reduce the heat to warm when it starts to boil, keep warm until ready to serve.

Recipe Notes

Serve with small bowls of au jus for dipping.
