Homemade Marinara Sauce

You just can't beat homemade marinara sauce. Make a big batch and freeze some for later!

Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 white or yellow onion diced fine
  • 1 teaspoon garlic (3 cloves) minced
  • 1 28oz. can crushed tomatoes
  • 3oz. tomato paste 1/2 small can
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 pinch crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Italian Flat Leaf Parsley chopped
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth (or 1/2 tsp. Better Than Bouillon + 1/2 cup water)
Instructions
  1. In a large sauté pan set to medium high heat add the oil and the diced onion. Cook the onion until translucent.
  2. Add in the minced garlic and cook for a short time until the garlic is fragrant.
  3. Now add in the rest of the ingredients and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir periodically as it simmers for 15-20 minutes.

*If using Better Than Bouillon, use 1/2 cup water to 1/2 tsp Better than Bouillon.
