Buttermilk Pancakes

The best buttermilk pancakes! Don't forget to make homemade buttermilk syrup to go with!

Servings 6


  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted


  1. Preheat griddle to medium high heat.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the salt, baking powder, baking soda, flour and sugar.

  3. In a separate bowl whisk together the eggs and buttermilk.

  4. Slowly add the melted butter to the eggs and buttermilk.

  5. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix together until just barely combined.

  6. Add butter to grease the hot griddle. Add scoops of 1/2 cup of the pancake batter to the griddle.

  7. Cook on one side until you start to see bubbles begin to form. Flip the pancakes and cook until golden on both sides. Serve warm.

Recipe Notes

*Note the more you stir pancakes, the more flat and tough they will be so go easy on the mixing.
