Making and delivering Christmas Cookies.
It’s crunch time friends…last minute shoppers unite! I don’t know about you, but running all over town in search of the perfect gifts can really kill that holly jolly spirit. I was thrilled to check everyone off my list at JCPenney this year, leaving more time for things like making and delivering cookies with my kids, and the fun stuff we want to be doing. In collaboration with JCPenney, we want to help you check everyone off your list, and sometimes it’s about adding just one more to your list, because that’s #JoyWorthGiving.
We made a fun Christmas video doing one of our favorite Christmas traditions…making (super soft gingerbread) cookies together. Sure you can buy the pre-made cookies…I’m all about whatever works for you, but it’s fun to know something delicious made from scratch was baked in our oven…not to mention the warm delicious scent that fills your home! You can find the gingerbread cookie and frosting recipes here. See my tips below for success when making cut out cookies with kids in the kitchen.
Sometimes the best gift you can give to the ones you love most is simply your time. Time together making memories doing those cherished holiday traditions…like making gingerbread cookies! Less running all over and more time together…that’s the true joy worth giving. It’s so important to help kids feel the joy that comes from giving. Even if it’s as simple as making and delivering cookies to friends and neighbors…maybe a lonely neighbor or a widow, spreading the joy and leaving no one out. It’s what the season is all about.
When it comes to doing cut out cookies with the kids, it helps to make the cookie dough and the frosting the night before, allowing for more time on the creative part…rolling and cutting the cookies out with cookie cutters, baking and decorating.
You know what’s cuter than a gingerbread boy cookie? A bitesize mini gingerbread boy cookie…lots of them!
It doesn’t hurt to have a cute colorful KitchenAid mixer to mix the dough and frosting just right too. Have you seen how many colors they have now?! I’ll take one of each please!
We packaged up our frosted cookies and dropped them off to a few we love.
