We LOVE this Veggie House or Veggie Lodge!
What a great idea to switch things up from your traditional Gingerbread House decorating and make a Veggie House! We spotted this on the Green Giant Facebook Page a few years ago. It’s such a great idea to make a house out of healthy carrots, celery and cucumbers. The carrots can be made into shapes like Lincoln logs. Too Cute!
Here is what you need to make a veggie house:
-carrots
-celery
-foam core board
-toothpicks
-wooden skewers
CARROTS:
6 – 8inch carrot logs (1 for the front side, 5 for back side)
8 – 5inch carrot logs for the sides of house
8 – 3inch carrot logs for the front of the house
8 – 1 1/4inch short spacer carrot logs by the front door
4 – 1 1/2inch carrot logs to create the side window opening
3 – 7inch carrot logs for the rafters
CELERY:
16 – 6-7inch long stalks of celery for the roof
More Vegetables to complete the winter scene:
-Red Bell Pepper
-Turnip
-Mushrooms
-Broccoli
-Small Cherry Tomatoes
-Artichokes
The foam core board gable ends measure 8″x 6″ x 6″
The foam core board floor/base measures 8″ x 5″ (plus extra on the back for chimney if desired)
The window is made out of a slice of turnip.
Use toothpicks and bamboo skewers to help hold it all together, if needed. Think of the cream cheese “mortar” more of decor rather than a way to hold it all together.
Use bamboo skewers for stacking chimney mushroom “stones”.

Tied this with hubby & granddaughter. Quite difficult. Our carrots ae not symmetrical. The ones in the model look like they are milled evenly like a log. Thought this would be a fun morning project with the kids. If I want it to look as good as the picture I think I would be working several days and seriously need to upgrade my carpenter skills. BTW, hubby is a carpenter and carrots are just not a good building material he says. Cute idea if you are looking to spend a LOT of time.

Hi Connie! Oh no! Thank you for sharing that. I too love the idea of a healthy version, and wanted to share this fun idea. Maybe it’s just a cute idea to just admire, and not actually try…dang it!
