Fake Sugar Cookies made of tan craft foam.
Before I begin my post, you need to know that these fake cookies are For Decoration Only…not for consumption.
This post is just a fun craft for Halloween, but you can do it for any holiday or party theme. If you want to make real edible sugar cookies, you have to try our favorite sugar cookie recipe. It’s a copycat recipe for Swig drink drive through. They are the BEST sugar cookies with a pink frosting made with sour cream. So good!
My friend Bridget from Bake at 350, is the master at the perfectly decorated sugar cookie…the edible kind of cookies. If you ever need inspiration for decorated sugar cookies, she is your go to for all things sugar cookies. Her book Decorating Cookies is a great tool for learning to make decorated sugar cookies.
I sometimes wish I had a little more Bridget in me. I think if I had the patience and if I knew that the perfectly decorated cookie also meant a fun night with girlfriends or family, then I think I’d do it more often. With that said, these fake cookies are just for fun, just for looks. I love the cuteness of real sugar cookies, and these are a portion of the cuteness without all the work. And…they’re calorie free. 😉
These pretend cookies would be fun for pretend play, like playing kitchen or American Girl Dolls…something like that. I even think they are cute under a glass domed cake plate.
To make these cookies, I used cutting dies from Lifestyle Crafts. I wish I could link over to their site for the exact dies I used, but they are no longer available. You could always just trace and cut these out by hand. To make the cookies look like they were baked in the oven, I just inked the edges with brown ink on the tan foam.
This would be a fun kid craft…and with Christmas just around the corner, Christmas cookies would be so cute!
