Born in 1950, today my mom is 57 (don’t you worry I already cleared that one with her first) and on her special day I wanted to give her a big shout out to let her know how much we all love her. So here is a list of some of the things that make her great!
She is thoughtful.
She is funny even though most of the time it is unintentional. One of my favorite memories of my mom was when she was speaking at my younger brother’s mission farewell. When she put on her reading glasses to read something, her glasses pinched the tissue that was in her hand and for a good 10 seconds the soggy tissue dangled on the side of her face. It wasn’t until she looked up that she saw it out of the corner of her eye. By then everyone was laughing, It was classic, so funny.
She is a great cook. It is all about the food, not so much about the presentation, just the food and we wouldn’t want it any other way.
She enjoys quilting. She has been in a Quilting Group with the same friends for 27 years.
I like to call it the “Bitch and Stitch” Group.
Here they are (minus one) in Mexico this year.
She is just like her mom. It is all about the details of “What’s for Dinner”.
She is a kid at heart. She still blows bubbles in her milk.
She tells it how it is.
She is an avid reader. Every Sunday when we go to dinner there is a new novel on the kitchen island.
She is a great friend. She has made friends for life.
Sandy and Debbie: “Friends Forever”.
She loves her family and the time we have together.
She is a great grandma… whoa, what I mean is that she is a wonderful grandma.
She is a party girl, although she is not afraid to kick everyone out when she feels like the party is over.
She says one swear word. I love it, because it makes it okay for me to use it. (and no I did not clear this one with her first… sorry mom.)
She is as real as they come. No wonder Kyle calls her “Debbie the Dominator”.
Happy Birthday Mom, we love you!
