Brownies from scratch made in one bowl…no special kitchen tools required…so good and so easy!
Make Brownies from Scratch…no box mix needed
Yo don’t need a box of brownie mix to make fantastic no fail brownies. The best thing is that you probably have everything you need to make them in your kitchen right now. When Kyle (my husband) was in about fifth grade, he came up with this simple brownie recipe from scratch for a school assignment. I’m not quite sure how he has an original recipe (as a fifth grader).
Cocoa Powder Brownies
We use unsweetened cocoa powder for these brownies. We love Hershey’s brand cocoa powder, but there are other brands that are great too, like: Guittard, Girardelli or Nestle.
Ingredients to make Brownies from Scratch
- 2 sticks of butter room temp
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups flour
- 4 Tbs. cocoa powder
- 1 tsp. Vanilla
- 1/2 tsp salt
How to make Brownies from Scratch
Mix all together and bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
Since his fifth grade year, this recipe has stayed a classic in his family, and is now always referred to as “Kyle’s Brownies”. If you like more cake-like brownies, then you will love this recipe. I’m a big fan of box mix brownies, and sometimes you just need something chocolate-y, but you might not have a box of brownie mix, but you probably DO have all the ingredients to make brownies from scratch!

Way to go Kyle! Those look delicious! I always home make my brownies and they are the “cake-like” kind… but I do add a twist and top them with mini marshmallows straight out of the oven!

I swear I didn’t help him with that recipe! I don’t know where it came from or if he just made it up. It really is one of the best. Sometimes I put Ande’s mints on top right when the brownies come out of the oven, let the mints melt then spread them around like frosting. MMM…my mouth is watering just thinking about it!

weirdos who like box brownies better than made-from-scratch brownies are CRAZY! (My husband is one of them, lol) I prefer my brownies with no nuts and no frosting as well though. A little dusting of powdered sugar is perfect for me. 🙂
