Twenty Ten! Don’t you like the sound of that! It sure beats “o-ten”, because that just sounds weird. So this is the year that I can’t be so private with my New Year’s Resolutions, or at least one of them. I’ve never been much for declaring my resolutions, so instead, I love the one word for the year idea.
My word for the year: Discipline.
“Discipline is remembering what you want.” – David Campbell
It’s also Sarah from Clover Lane‘s word too, and I loved it! It is exactly the word I need this year… heck, every year. I loved Sarah’s post declaring her word for the year, it’s like she was reading my mind.
2010 is already starting off in a big way …for me. I’m running a relay in May with a group of bloggers, and I’m excited/scared/thrilled to have something to motivate me. I’ll be posting sporadically over on the relay blog over the next four months, and I’ll let you know when I do.
And this is why Discipline is the word for me in 2010. It was either Discipline or Procrastination.
Welcome Two Thousand And Ten… here we go!
ps. Have you picked a word for the year yet?!

2008 was "my year" and that turned out to be a crappy year. 2009 was "survive" and I did survive. 2010 will be "enjoy". My goals are focused more on "enjoying" every moment. So I think that will be my word:)
Good luck on the run. It's totally a mind game and if you put your mind to it–you can do it!!
I have 2 words,(well 3)
"no coca-cola"
Discipline is a good one.
Mine is Dominate.
That 2010 photo is AWESOME!
Good for you….best wishes with the relay! Can't wait to hear how it goes. I want in next time
p.s. Don't tell your mom, but I drank loads of diet coke when training for all seven of my marathons :0
Oh, wow! I'm so glad to not be the only one who has a "word of the year." Lol! I love yours! So inspiring! My word is "abundance" for 2010. I'm trying to focus on the abundance in my life and be filled with gratitude.
The firework/sparkler photo is amazing! And perfect. My sparklers never quite turn out like that
.
Happy 2010!
My word is "deliver"
"change/evolve"
change the way I deal with stress
change the way I eat
change/evolve into the person I working to become (less judgemental/more open to spontaneity)
my word choice came from a quote M&E's English teacher posted on her website – I thought it was great!
"It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent, but the most responsive to change" – Charles Darwin.
Change is inevitable. It can randomly happen to you, but you can also actively choose to change. I have watched some of the people I love "change/evolve/adapt" this year. It is tough to do. I have been inspired watching these people find their way down new roads.
Here's to 2010 and making great changes!
Kami, this is a great relay that you are doing! I'm so excited to know about it and keep up with all the bloggers involved.
I have a word this year – Cheerful. http://theboatwrightfamily.blogspot.com/2009/12/so-lets-try-this-again.html
I was going to post my goals tonight.
LOVE that picture of 2010 in fireworks – so cool. Also so cool you are running! It helps so much to stay motivated when you have something like that to work towards.
Great tip on recycling old cards!
I too love that photo–amazing! And I love the idea of choosing a word for the year. I will have to think hard as to what that will be for sure, but right now "offline" is buzzing around my head.
I heard about the relay–that's so exciting! I'm here cheering for you!
2010 sounds awesome….

Good for you for running the relay. Should be fun! That's a great word for the year. Mine is three words. This year is a "Do It Yourself" year. Among my DIY goals are: home make salsa and refinish my kitchen table.. all by myself!
discipline. i definitely need more in my life. if you find any extra will you send it my way?
can't wait for the race. i'm getting excited!
Great word and goal! And I love the pic.
Simplify!
Thanks for the reminder of what I wrote…I needed it 6 days later which is a sad state of affairs! Love that picture!
