We have a fun Thanksgiving printable for you today. I love the song “Count your many blessings” as it’s such a great reminder of all that we do have to be thankful for.
I love shadowboxes, but I never quite know what to put inside of them. When I got the idea for this print, I knew the little acorns we have been collecting would be perfect to go inside. I love how the acorns are a reminder of the many blessings we have. “Count your blessings…name them one by one”.
A few of the little acorn hats were falling off, so I just hot glued them on. It seems the little acorn hats were a lot easier to find than the actual acorns. Darn squirrels! (“Squirrel!”)
But that’s okay, you could get crafty here and make those cute little felted ball acorns with the acorn hats. That would look cute in here!
When you print it out, it looks like this. The top half is to frame and the bottom half can be used on Thanksgiving Day as a fun way for everyone to write down what they are thankful for.
You could have them at each place setting if you’d like.
Anyway you use it, it’s a great reminder this time of year.

Silly question….where did you collect your acorns?
kami says
I collected them near my Parent’s home which in near the mountains. I’m in Utah. Does that help?

Very neat idea! Just a tip: once the season is over you’ll want to dump the acorns out before putting your shadow box in storage. We did a fall mix in vases using mostly acorns from out side and they produced maggots (gag)!!! Abby

Ew!!
Great tip! I will do it for sure. Thank you!

I love the idea. EVen thought we don’t have oak trees the in-laws do so I will be looking for some acorns at Thanksgiving and sealing them for next year.
Amy says
Thank you for this idea! My daughter and I collected about a hundred of these little acorns by her school and I told her we would make something with them. I wasn’t sure what to make until I saw this. And yes, we found a bunch of caps with no nuts. Of course whenever we see a squirrel, we have to do the Doug impersonation too!!!

I love this! Thank you for sharing!! I plan to use this for my dad’s birthday. He always reminds us to count our blessings. Any chance you would consider making it to print in other sizes?
kami says
Hi Angie! I talked to my husband, and he thinks you could probably get away with doubling it in size for printing. It’s worth a shot. Try printing it at Costco.

Would you believe I just stopped back at your site after seeing this pinned image again and am just seeing your reply to my own question? Better late than never! 😉 I love bloggers who respond to comments! I have one more question. How do you print a pdf at a place like Costco? I have only been able to upload photo files, like jpeg. I just tried uploading this pdf and was not successful. Is there a trick? Thanks again!
kami says
Hmmm…I’m not sure on this one. Try calling your Costco and see what they say. Sorry I’m not of help on this one.

Thanks, Kami for sharing this wonderful idea/printable. Instead of acorns, I was thinking of having my family put their thumbprints on the tree with their names inside. Sort of like a family tree thing. Might need to enlarge the print, though. Sure appreciate all your ideas.

I love this! Especially since most of my blessings are nuts! Lol! Just have to write their names on the acorns, which I have tons of thanks to my dog; he keeps the killer squirrels out of my yard…;-)
