Giveaway: A Book About Adoption

Giveaway Now Closed
Once Upon a Time: An Adoption Story is a darling little book that helps children understand adoption and how much love is involved. Ashley Hansen Bigler (the Author) and Amy Hintze (The Illustrator) have done a wonderful job together in explaining adoption in a simple and very loving way.

My little family has been blessed by adoption. We adopted our son Aiden in 2008, and he has brought so much love to our home. We couldn't imagine our lives without him. This book will help us when it comes time to explain adoption to him. I love that we have simple resources like this to help show him how much love is involved in adoption.

I grew up with the Illustrator, Amy Hintze. She has such a talent, and really has made this book come to life. She included this picture of our kids (from last May) in a collage on the last page of the book. Which makes this book that much more special to me.

Can you find them?

If you or someone you know has been touched by adoption, this book would be such a sweet gift to give. If you'd like to buy it now, you can RIGHT HERE.

What's For Dinner?

For some reason when it comes to menu planning and what to cook for dinner, I struggle. I find myself running to the store at least twice a week which ends up costing me a bunch more than it should if I had it all mapped out before hand.

A few years ago, I read this book ↓, which I highly recommend if you are looking to save some money. Just to warn you, these people are INTENSE, literally 'in tents'. Although I know that I could never do it like them, (I am not anywhere near that disciplined) I do think there is so much to learn from the way they live.

In this book she talks about how they grocery shop once a month (I know!), how they freeze everything: bread, cheese, milk; to name a few. With the milk, she says that they just pour out a little to help with the expansion in the freezer.

Anyway, I look to you all as such a great resource, so I wanted to ask you: What's for dinner?
I would love to hear it in the comment section, or better yet, if you are a pro at menu planning, I would love to see a post with what works best for you and your family.

ps. Don't tell Kyle...he hates Peeps.

Did You Know...

that most Americans don't read a book a year? Crazy, I know! I almost fit into that catergory this year until now...thank heavens for Miss Meyer. Well I know y'all feel like this is old news, so I won't bore you with a lengthy review, I'll just say that it wasn't my favorite of the four and that I want my next vacation to be just like Edward and Bella's honeymoon. Now back to more important reading...like all your blogs. ;)

Clay Boy

I haven't given a book review in some time and the truth is that I haven't been reading a whole lot of books lately, mostly just blogs. Then I thought hey... what about Clay Boy! So here is the latest book my mom sent us home with that she found in the 25 cent bin at the library.

A little grandpa creates a clay boy.

They feed the clay boy.

The clay boy eats all their food.

and their chickens, cat and dog.

Then he eats the grandma and the grandpa.

Then he eats more people... a lot more people.

He is still hungry!

Until one day a little white goat.

Saves the Day!

So I wonder why Clay Boy ended up in the 25 cent bin?

If you would like to borrow Clay Boy, I would love to let you, although it will be for a small fee (I need to start saving for the future therapy that Avery might need).

P.S. Mom, can Avery come sleep...I mean not sleep at your house?

Addicting

The past week I have been devouring the Twilight Series. If you haven't yet read them, I highly recommend them. I never knew I could be so into Vampires, at least vampires named Edward. I can hardly wait til #4 next fall.
