Dear Monday – you were awful!
Oh my, our family had such a bad day on Monday.
It all started with the news of the explosions at the Boston Marathon. My oldest sister Shauna was there with her husband cheering on his younger brother William. Will had just finished the Boston Marathon 20 minutes before the first explosion. They were in the same spot, just 20 minutes before the bomb went off. My heart sank when I got a call from my other sister Becky with the news.
We had all been following along with their trip via Instagram. It’s so hard to look at this picture of my sweet sister taken just a few days before and not think of all the what ifs.
We all said a million thank you prayers that day when we knew they were okay. Followed with so many prayers for peace for the families who were not so lucky that sad day. It’s so hard to try to make sense of something that is so senseless. On a day that we should be celebrating the human spirit and accomplishment, something so horrible like this takes all of those feelings away. Makes me mad. and sad.
My prayers will continue to be with the families who suffered horrible injuries on Monday and to those who lost loved ones. Prayers that they can find comfort and peace. My heart goes out to them all.
Later that night, our little Avery took a big fall outside while walking her friend’s dog. The dog was on a retractable leash, which is a bad thing for a bigger dog. He had reached the slack on the leash and I think they were running, when he jerked her forward fast, causing her to hit the concrete hard. She skinned up her face pretty bad and she broke her arm.
When I ran outside to find her, she was in a puddle of blood. It was so scary. Her nose was bleeding pretty bad from the fall. I rushed her to the hospital. After X-rays, we found out she had a buckle fracture on her arm near her wrist. This type of a break, is the best kind of break if you have to have any type of break at all. After x-rays, we decided to have them reset her arm in the ER that night.
It was so awful seeing her after they had sedated her to reset her arm. My poor girl, I felt so bad for her. It was an emotional day.
We came home late Monday night exhausted. What a sad day.
My prayers continue with so many in our country who have been affected by the sad events of Monday.
*I will be back posting next week. For the rest of this week, I will be busy with the creative blog conference: Snap which is taking place here in Utah this weekend. I’ve been so excited for this conference for a chance to see so many of my blogging friends. I’m thankful the conference is here in Utah, so I won’t be far from home with everything that happened on Monday. I’ll be posting to Instagram and Facebook, if you’d like to follow along over there. I hope you have a good week.

Poor Avery! Hope she is feeling better soon. My poor son got pretty banged up yesterday as well, not a good Tuesday for our kids. The news from Boston is so terrible, all those poor people. Glad your loved ones are ok.

That’s a pretty crappy day. I live in Boston (Lexington) and go to the marathon every year. I got to Mile 19 at 8:15am with my 13 blankets to save space for “my people”. It was such a great day until I got home and heard about the bombings. I was panicking until I found out all my friends were OK. I’m glad your family is safe and I hope Avery is on the mend. 🙂

Your family is in my prayers! know just how you feel because we had one of those days yesterday and I am in the PICU with my 5 month old who has RSV. I was supposed to fly into UT for Snap today but am not coming now. I will be living vicariously through all of the instagram pictures!

I’m so relieved about Shauna, what a scary thing! I’m so sorry for little Avery, she looks so miserable! Violet had almost the same thing happen this past summer. She was holding onto a leash of a big dog and it took off, smacking her face on the sidewalk. Luckily it didn’t break her arm, just skinned up her face pretty bad. Give Avery a big hug from all of us. Glad you get to have a good ending to your week anyway! Have a great time!

We are so sorry about sweet Avery and so grateful that Shauna and family were protected! What a tough day!! I share your pain for the victims and their families of this horrible day!! I’m so grateful the Lord can bring peace to our hearts when we have times like this. We are so blessed to know what we know and have his Spirit in our lives each day.
Please give Avery our love!! She is so special to us!!
Love to you all, Mel

Oh Kami!! It breaks my heart to see sweet Avery in that hospital bed! I’m so sorry she took a fall. How scary for you – not knowing how bad it was. Sending a prayer your way and give Avery a big hug from me – and LOTS and LOTS of ice cream!
I’m so relieved to hear your sister was ok. What an awful thing. It’s so frustrating to try and make sense of why people do what they do. 🙁
