Pinterest – I love it! Here’s why…

Have you heard the buzz about Pinterest yet? I think I’m in love…and you will be too.

Pinterest is a visual bookmarking site that allows you to pin and organize images.

I first heard about Pinterest a year ago in Jan. of 2010 at ALT and then heard about it again in September of last year.  I am just now pinning and wish I would have started a year ago!

Here’s why I love it:

For years now (that sounds so old), I have been using tags in my reader (google reader) to keep track of favorite things: recipes, holiday ideas…you name it.

The big problem with tagging in Google Reader is that if I’m in there, I am constantly wanting to look at the new posts, and I rarely go back to look at old content and images that I’ve starred or tagged.

That is where Pinterest comes in! Rather than having to hunt and scroll through craft tutorials or step by step images of a great recipe that I want to save, I can just pin the ONE image that I loved from that post and that one image will take me to the site where the tutorial is. Voila!

You can also organize all these images into neat categories. Love that! I am slowly going through my tags in Reader and untagging them there and pinning them on Pinterest.

I just went through and pinned a few of my favorite Easter ideas, and I’m excited to add more to this board.

This is also a great place to make an online vision board. I’m a big believer in vision boards. They work.

I have loved seeing images from NoBiggie that other’s have pinned and been inspired by.

I’m just getting started, and I think you should too. You can follow (and subscribe – if you’d like) to my pins here, and you can request an invite to start pinning on Pinterest here.

I’d love to know…have you started pinning? If so, leave a link to your Pinterest page in the comments. I’d love to start following you too!

Love, love, love the pinterest. It may have stolen about 4 hours of my afternoon. It may have stolen my afternoon nap time.

Oh well. I did find some MARVIE things to look at. They are divine. It's candy for my eyes. Only unlike that stinkin Easter Candy…it's not gonna make my butt get big!

I love this! Thanks for sharing…what a great concept! I put in for a "request invitation" and I was sent an email that said

'Thanks for joining the Pinterest waiting list. We're still in private beta, but we'll be sure to send you an invite soon.'

How long did it take for them to get back to you? Just curious :) Thanks for sharing!

This is the first I've heard of it! I'm going over to check it out right now. I'm the kind of gal who likes to tear out pages of magazines and stick them in a file–this sounds like the internet equivalent! Thanks, Kami!

Oh man! I am feeling the pull to pinterest! I love how I can see what others pin but I'm so afraid I'll be sucked into the computer even more! Has this helped with your computer time in either a positive or negative way? I spent 20 min earlier today looking at someone's pins. I loved it! Sucked in I tell ya! This could be bad for me. :)

    Thanks for the overview!
