Christmas Past: Piggy Pudding

The Christmas of 1977 (before I was born), my mom sent an audio tape to my Grandma in Montana of my two older sisters: Shauna (who was 5) and Becky (who was 2). To this day we all still quote my sister Becky saying “It IS Piggy Pudding!”.

This audio makes me want to record my kids voices, just so I don’t forget the sweetness.

Here’s Piggy Pudding:

Apparently there is a Piggy Pudding! (Beck, you were right!) Although I think I’d have to pass on both Figgy and Piggy…yuck!

All this week I’ll be posting little treasures from our families’ Christmas past. Little things that we still quote to this day and that I wanted to have documented (and digitized).

Alright, maybe I have PMS or something, but that sweet recording totally made me tear up and it's not even my family! So precious and funny! What a fun idea to take us all down memory lane.

And one more thing–Your outfits are outstanding. Did your mom make them?

Oops, one MORE thing–If you don't already have it, you have to download the version of We Wish You a Merry Christmas a la John Denver and the Muppets. (The whole album is great, actually.) There is another mention of Piggy Pudding!

That is so cute. I love listening to my siblings when they were little. They have such cute little smurf voices!

Such a sweet capture of days gone by…Your mom's voice is so melodic…very Doris Day. Your clip could have come right from the Lawrence Welk Show!

Great Christmas memories. I look forward to seeing more.

We have a tape like that too. I think I was 2 years old and I am so obnoxious in it. I love the dresses. I think our moms made them together because we had some just like it with red clogs.
I loved Christmas when we were kids. So fun!!

We just had the Piggy Pudding discussion the other day at our house with my 3 and 6 year old! I decided I liked it better than the Figgy Pudding version. :)

I love all those pictures. Why don't we dress our kids that way anymore? Look how long Shauna's legs are…and super skinny! I used to be that way, too, then I had kids!

So cute! You guys have a great mom!

I am laughing and tearing up at the same time. It is so weird to hear yourself at 5 years old. I love Beck's little duck voice. I am overcome with nostalgia.

I can't get it to play the recording! I'll check back and try again later…

Those dresses are darling! What cute pictures your mom took. I love old pictures. I'm posting an old Christmas favorite tommorow for my sisters b-day. They are classic!
