Music, like emotion, is deeply personal – and meant to be shared.
So much music, so little time to share. Therefore, ‘Song of the Week’ is now ‘Song of the Day’
Much love to Ryan Jacobs for introducing me to Fleet Foxes. They may look a little grisly, but they sure sound amazing. If you like harmony (and who doesn’t?), you’ll love Fleet Foxes. They have several great songs, but non better than “Drops In The River.”
Rules for maximum enjoyment:
- No distractions.
- Volume up.
- Use earphones.
- Close eyes. Seriously.
Why I love this song:
- ‘Crosby Stills & Nash’ harmony.
- Slow crescendo throughout the song.
- Mellow without being boring.
Other worthwhile songs by Fleet Foxes
White Winter Hymnal (this was my first exposure to FF. Caught me by surprise)
Ragged Wood (2nd favorite – love the change of pace starting at 2:30)
Blue Ridge Mountains
He Doesn’t Know Why (did I mention Crosby Stills & Nash)
Sun It Rises (just get past the first 22 seconds…)

Oh how I love new music! The album was only $4.95, so I downloaded it and will enjoy it today.
Have you ever listened to Band of Annuals? My brother introduced me to them and I'm hooked. Plus, they are from Salt Lake, but they don't sound like they've ever performed at EFY.
I love Fleet Foxes! They led me to Grizzly Bear. I highly recommend! For their songs, you can't go wrong with The Knife or Two Weeks as an introduction to the band.
okay, this is enough to bring me out of lurker-dom.
you MUST check out first aid kit's cover of Fleet Foxes… check it out on YouTube – it will blow.you.away.
guaranteed.
So you're listening to Fleet Foxes? Dude, it's been far too long since we've sat down and chatted about music. We need to get together ASAP.

it's no secret that i listen to whatever kyle says i should listen to. i prefer to be in the 'lemming' category when it comes to mr. bigler's musical suggestions.
i can tell that these boys won't let me down–and 4.95? BARGAIN!!!
doing it…….NOW.
ps i've heard ragged wood somewhere before–where? i listened to it this morning while ironing and couldn't place it.
& yes, i do iron.
Kyle are you going to teach us the nifty thing you are doing with the posting of the songs to the blog posts?
