French Dip Sandwiches

Mmmm…I always love a good french dip sandwich. They probably make our meal rotation about once a month. So easy and so good. How can you go wrong with sauteed mushrooms, swiss cheese, au jus and roast beef.

I’d love to know what always makes the meal rotation at your house?

We love French Dip sandwiches at our house too! I like to buy the seasoned roast beef from the deli (kind of a peppery roast beef), broil the bread with the provolone on it, and then put the beef in the au jus and let it warm up a bit before assembling the sandwiches. Makes it extra tasty!

Our rotations: Cajun chicken pasta, tacos, quesadillas, breakfast burritos and homemade soup!

I haven't had one of those in a long time. They look yummy. How do you sautee the mushrooms?

Calzones (see my VERY VERY old blog post) and cheese enchiladas.

I actually have roast beef in my fridge – maybe we'll have french dips tonight? I feel inspired.

    1. Spaghetti, salad and garlic bread – A staple in our house. Some have it with sauce – some with butter and cheese.

    2. Grilled steak, artichoke and baked potato – We do a lot of grilling. A lot. At least 4 or 5 times per week. I love a good steak! Who am I kidding? I love a mediocre steak!

    3. Chicken stir fried with veggies and brown rice – No white rice in this house. I cut chicken breasts into chunks and stir fry them with a little olive oil. Add in some frozen veggies and some teriyaki sauce. Serve over brown rice. MMMMM

    4. Turkey Tacos – Ground turkey instead of beef. Hard shells and tortillas. With all the trimmings. Served with refried beans.

    5. Teriyaki Chicken Sandwiches – Marinate chicken breasts and grill. Served on whole wheat buns with a pineapple ring. Usually with corn on the cob too!

    6. Lime Fajita Flank Steak – A specialty of my moms. Easiest meal ever. Put the meat on to marinade in the morning. I also do some sliced bell peppers with this bad boy. Grill meat and peppers and serve. I sometimes pair this with a lemon orzo. All that citrus! Sooo yummy!

    7. Grilled Ribs – We alternate between beef and pork. Sometimes with bones – sometimes without. My hubby is from Texas and he likes his ribs!

    8. French Dip Sandwiches – Shaved roast beef from the deli. Hard rolls. Au jus. Quick and easy.

    9. Turkey burgers – I really don't use hamburger for anything anymore – unless we have company over. The turkey tastes the same to me!

    10. Roasted pork tenderloin – I get the big ones at Costco. Pop one in the oven and serve with rosemary baby new potatoes. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.

    11. Turkey Meatloaf – Like I said I substitute turkey for ground beef.

    12. Grilled chicken – I use the McCormick's Grill Mates marinades (I keep a dozen in my cabinet all the time) and then serve with steamed peas or corn and couscous.

    13. Turkey Tenderloin – Buy it already marinated. Pop it on the oven. Delish!

    14. Pot Roast with veggies – A Sunday staple. Usually served with homemade Rhodes rolls and honey butter.

    15. Ginger Sesame Shish Kabobs – Served with brown rice. So fun and so yummy they even got their own blog post.

    16. Sloppy Joe's – once again, made with turkey.

    17. Breakfast for dinner – Sometimes french toast, sometimes pancakes, sometimes I bust out my famous waffles.

    18. Grilled pork chops – Marinated. Grilled to perfection. I told you we grilled a lot!

    19. All Star Chicken – A recipe I duplicated from MGFK. Chicken breasts delicately flavored with walnut oil, cranberries and raspberry vinaigrette. Served over penne pasta. Perfection!

    20. Papa Murphy's Take and Bake Pizza – I have to put it in the oven all by myself! That is hard work.

Does taco night count ?!? We make something like that except we sautee onions and green peppers and use provolone cheese and it's a philly cheesesteak sandwich. Yum!

Wow Tib, is that your menu for the whole month? Now I am hungry.

We eat french dip a lot at our house too. Super easy when you don't feel like cooking. Also sloppy joes. Taylor wants them every week. And steak. It's always BBQ time in AZ.

My fajitas!! I like mine better than most restaurants'. I marinate my chicken with Italian dressing instead of fajita seasoning.

That looks so good and simple! I'll have to try it. Do you just buy the sause at the grocery store? I'd love to see how you sautee the mushrooms too! And here's another quick tip tutorial I'd love from Kami… what are your secrets for taking such great pictures of food!? You always make everything look mouth watering!

Yum! That looks delicious. I am in a soup making mode right now. My favorite soup is sausage potato Tuscan soup. My kids love it but they might be getting sick of it. I have made it every week for the past three…
