Fabric Flower How-To (Warm Up Your Hot Glue Guns!)

because we’re gonna get crafty!

A while back I bought this pale pink headband (the middle one) at an H&M and I thought it was so darling. I studied it for a bit, and thought…”hey, I can make that”. But what I should have thought was, “Hey, I can make something similar to that on my second try”. So that is what I attempted to do, blogging along the way, in the middle of the night, with bad lighting. you betcha.

Step 1. Buy small pieces of silky solids (like 1/4th of a yard) and ribbon to match.
Step 2. Cut fabric into small squares.
Step 3. Fold square into fourths.
Step 4. Cut a scalloped flowery edge.
not Step 5. Designate one pair of scissors for fabric only…I love having one pair that is always sharp.

1. Fray check the edges…I did not do this step on the white headband. This step is optional.
2. Wrap thin metal headband with the coordinating ribbon. This is where the hot glue gun comes in. Use it to secure down the ends.
3. Hot glue a felt circle to adhere all the “flower pedals”.
4. Hot glue all the scalloped fabric pieced at the folds to make them pedal like and then hot glue them to the headband…that is a lot of hot glue.

This is the headband that I purchased from H & M.

Here is the second one that I made. I like how this one turned out.

and finally, I give you (drum roll please)… Ginormica!

Big is in, trust me. ;)
