Seeded or Seedless…That is the Question

Over the weekend Kyle purchased two giant SEEDED (!) watermelons for a BBQ (that ended up being cancelled). I guess we had yet to have that conversation, and it’s a good one to have. I think it might have been my mood that day as I sliced, diced and chopped away at those ginormous melons that I let him know that I’m not so much a fan of the seeded. I mean c’mon! It’s like nuts in a perfect brownie. Why?

As far as modern day technology has come, seedless watermelon is for sure one of our privileges that I am happy to take full advantage of.

One good thing that came from these watermelons was the watermelon lemonade slushies that followed. Yum! Now the sticky mess, that’s another story. I guess this slushie now gives me a reason to start buying seeded…not to eat, just to juice.

Do tell… Do you buy seeded or seedless? I’m just curious.

* Just added:

As for the recipe, after I juiced and strained the watermelon juice I wanted to try this recipe, but I got lazy and I just winged it. I happened to have a container of this stuff. So I just mixed it in, tasting along the way.

To make a slushie, I just filled a small cup with the drink and put it in the freezer for 2 hours. You should try it!

    Seedless, of course! I'm not enough of a naturalist to want otherwise. Bring on the genetic engineering!

    Call me crazy, but I think the seeded ones taste a little better. Still, they are a pain.

    I just cut up a "seedless" one that was chuck full of white seeds. I guess we can just eat them?
    I agree that the seeded ones have a sweeter flavor.

    I can't imagine why anyone would get a watermelon with seeds, it's too much work to eat it! However, when you send a hubby out for anything you must be very specific and write it down, I learned this the hard way.

    i wonder if she'll enable me and make the slushie?

    I'm not a fan. I rarely eat watermelon. But when I do, half the fun is spitting the seeds really far. So Im' gonig to go with seeded.
